WEEK IN REVIEW

CULTURE & MEDIA

  1. LACA hosted the artist reception for the “Artists of Epworth” Exhibit, which is in the main gallery until July 30th.
  2. Sandcastles Children’s Museum threw out some KUDOS to Ed Santarelli for building picnic tables for the deck, to Bobbie Clingan of Giving Tree Garden Center for their beautiful flower boxes and for the LACA Uke Group for performing for museum-goers last week.
  3. The Library reminded us that reading aloud for 15 minutes a day adds to the pool of words that your child is exposed to. They also showed us a new book series they have called Kitty.
  4. WMOM also threw out some KUDOS to the Petunia Parade volunteers, who continue to weed and keep the town looking beautiful all summer. They dished out $102.70 to Flo for having a WMOM sticker on her car. Get yours free at WMOM Radio. They awarded Jeff Read with his $1027 check from the car giveaway drawing.

  3. All Occasions Events & Floral worked with some wild flower blooms from a local grower this week.
  4. Avenue’s End Mini Mall met Howard the pet duck, who was strolling downtown with his owners. They also showed us some of the antique items that they have in stock, including railroad items and currency.
  5. Backstage Hobbies & Games has the new Adventures in the Hidden Realms decks. They will go on sale Friday at 3om.
  6. Book Mark gave us some rainy day ideas, including Nancy Drew and Little Golden book shelves.
  7. Booked for the Season has a new bench. It’s pretty unique!
  8. Evergreen Natural Foods Market gets weekly deliveries of fresh milk, cream and eggs. They have some really cute sun hats in the shop right now, too!
  9. Giving Tree Garden Center showed us the greenery and some really cool Michigan stepping stones.
  10. Gliks showed us some styles they have in the store.
  11. Instrumental Music showcased these two new guitars they have in the shop; the Gretsch G2410TG Streamliner Hollow Body Single-Cut Electric Guitar in Ocean Turquoise and the EVH Wolfgang USA 5A 3-Tone Sunburst electric guitar, which has a Floyd Rose Tremolo with a D-Tuna. The D-Tuna allows you to retune the lowest string back and fourth from D to E instantly.
  12. Ludington Hobbies was at the Lake County Modelers and Flyers Association in Baldwin for the RC Expo last weekend.
  13. Ludington Wood & Craft has a reclaimed Douglas Fir barnwood hall rack in the shop.
  14. Magyar’s has an Etsy shop filled with treasures, like this cotton peasant top.
  15. Mariellen’s Hallmark has Fat Brain Toys in stock. Help babies develop mental and physical abilities through play. They are also celebrating the Hallmark Ornament release this week, thru the 18th. If you buy both the Luke Skywalker & Obi-Wan Kanobi ornaments, you can save $40 off the Star Wars Death Star Tree Topper.
  16. Maude’s Monday feature was “Rock Licker” Dee Soller. This is Dee’s second year with Maudes, but she has been collecting rocks along the Great Lakes for decades now. Her rock stacks range from a few inches to a few feet. She describes herself as “fun loving free spirit just trying to live everyday in the positive.”
  17. My Sister’s Closet has an assortment of trail sandals, including Mion, Keen, JSport & Merrel.
  18. Opus posted an outfit with upcycled jeans and a blouse made from a mens dress shirt. They also featured a few items in the shop, including this skirt, shorts.
  19. Purple Monkey Children’s Boutique showed us this adorable Mudpie sleeper and this colorful Magnetic Me sleeper. And check out these Lazy One blankets!
  20. Sweet Peach Children’s Boutique has new arrivals from Pete & Lucy. They enjoyed the Wabo Wingman discs at their campsite this weekend. Their featured products included their Mommy & Me sets, this Wood Block Activity Game (which we are SO getting for the Pub Crawl Games),  these beautiful bags, and they reminded us that they carry sizes up to 14.

  23. Trailhead Bike Shop posted on their “Get to know us” blog where they talked about their bike rentals.
