CULTURE & MEDIA

  1. LACA  announced the return of their Festival of Wreaths fundraiser. They are currently seeking artists to create unique wreaths, which will be displayed in the performance hall lobby. Online bidding will take place Nov. 26 – Dec. 8.
    They also hosted the artist reception for Claire Ashley’s Cosmic Gasp last week. It will be on display through December 10th.
  2. Sandcastles Children’s Museum hosted John Marek for Music & Movement this week. They threw some KUDOS out to those who helped decorate the Sack Supper bags for Kids Food Basket.
    2022 memberships are on sale and they are 10% off through December.

    Family – $130, Four children of one immediate family and 2 adults to accompany them. Each additional family member is $10. The adults on this membership are interchangeable, the children are not.
    Grandparent – $130, 2 adults plus all their grandchildren, only 4 children can be admitted at one time. The children on this membership are interchangeable, the grandparents are not.
    Just Two – One adult and one child – $90
  3. The Library posted a list of new Science Fiction books and announced that the Harry Potter books are now on Hoopla. They also celebrated the life and work of illustrator and Caldecott Medal winner Jerry Pinkney this week. You can find his children’s literature work at the library and on the Libby app.
  4. WMOM hosted Natalie from Cedar Chest on their morning show with tips for fall fashion and Halloween costume ideas.

  2. AGS will be closed Saturday to hand out candy at the Eagles trunk-or-treat carnival.

  4. Babe’s Candyland hosted a Halloween cupcake decorating party last week. They had so much fun, they will be hosting another on this Sunday, October 31st from 1-3pm.  $5 per child.
    Featured candy this week includes black licorice Scotty Dogs and Jelly Bellies. If you’re looking for a gift for co-workers, teachers, friends, etc… they do special orders.
  5. Backstage Hobbies & Games has new games from Fluxx including Wonderland (help Alice find the White Rabbit while avoiding the Jabberwock) and Fairy Tale (help the Prince and Princess live happily ever after). They also restocked Supernatural Cookbooks.
  6. Book Mark has spooky stories! It’s never too late for those!
  7. Cedar Chest featured a red velvet dress, perfect for the holidays. If you’re still working on a costume, they have some formals that have costume opportunities. Maybe a swan? A fairy? Ballerina? Super hero?
  8. Everest Athleisure has new logo gear in the store.
  9. Evergreen Natural Foods Market featured these bamboo salad sets, cozy throws, wooden bowlsclay mugs, and lunchbox sets.

  10. Gliks shared some fashions for guys and gals.
  11. Ludington Hobbies has he new Traxxas Hot Rod Coupe in stock.
  12. Ludington Wood & Craft featured this reclaimed cherry TP holder and towel rack. This one is finished with a black dye, but special orders are available.
  13. Mariellen’s Hallmark is running a BOGO special all week on holiday wrapping paper, bows, bags, etc.
  14. My Sister’s Closet has blingy jeans from brands like Miss Me, Rock n Roll Cowgirl, Cowgirl Tuff, and Rock Revival.
  15. Nautical Yarn featured the holiday kids they have in the shop, which make projects easy because all of the supplies are included. They also featured these distressed canvas bags, which make great gifts even for those who don’t knit!
  16. Purple Monkey Children’s Boutique  carries these buttery soft welcome home sets from Quincy Mae. They are starting to feature holiday gifts as well, like these Melissa & Doug toys. 
  17. Sloaney’s has restocked these super cozy hooded blankets. Perfect to snuggle up in this winter. Big Foot’s corner just got an upgrade, so if there’s a sasquatch hunter on your list, be sure to stop in and see all the new stuff!
