  1. LACA will host Fresh Ghost Comedy Night featuring comedians Cam Rowe and Time Locke.Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased online.
    The LACA Members Exhibit ends Saturday, so stop in soon to check out the work of 30 talented artists.
    LACA is also looking for dog and cat themed artwork for their 3rd annual ARF Prize exhibit.
  2. Mason County Historical Society showed us a Throwback Thursday photo of the Lyric Theater and Cable Piano Company on South James Street.
  3. Sandcastles Children’s Museum was featured in the Ludington Daily News last week for their new Music & Movement series. Last week Eric Engblade played for families at the museum. He played the Rainbow Song, which is Jen’s favorite!!
  4. The Library  featured Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2020 and Book Club Best Bets lists. They also reminded us that Friday, Sept. 24th is the deadline for children of all ages to submit seasonal drawing entries for the 2022 calendar.
  5. WMOM  interviewed Allison Kaatz, the newly crowned Miss Ludington Area at Sunday’s program at LACA.

  28. Windowsill featured Lord of the Flies for Banned Book Month.
    Lord of the Flies, a 1954 novel by William Golding, which is read by most 10th grade classes, has been widely challenged and banned from schools over the years. According to the American Library Association, it is in the top ten of most frequently banned and challenged books in the nation. Parents, school administrators and other critics have complained about the language and violence in the novel. Bullying is rampant throughout the book— in fact, it is one of the main plot lines.
    In April 2019, a group of Florida citizens tried to ban approximately 90 books including Lord of The Flies, but were rebuffed by lawmakers who upheld the first amendment.
