Eco Friendly Businesses

Ludington is home to an amazing activist group called AFFEW (A Few Friends of the Environment of the World) and we work closely with them to help educate and guide our businesses towards making eco-friendly decisions. Find AFFEW on Facebook or visit their website to learn more about them.

Together we have compiled a list of businesses that AFFEW has stamped “GREEN”.

We thought you might want to know just what the businesses are doing to be eco-friendly, so below you will find some details and highlights.

Evergreen Natural Foods Market

The Evergreen is a natural food store that supports organic, non-GMO, and gluten free products. You will find locally farmed produce, milk, eggs and poultry as well as fair trade clothing, gifts and jewelry. Buying local and fair trade support environmentally sustainable solutions, and layers of middlemen are left out of each economic model, helping to ensure that a fair percentage of profits actually reach the producers. They also sell a great selection of green cleaning supplies so you can be green at home, too!

BLU MOON BISTRO

You will not find a straw in the house! A great way to reduce trash is to eliminate “single use plastics”, like straws. In the U.S. alone, one estimate suggests 500 million straws are used every single day. Seattle became the first US city to ban straws and Blu Moon became the first business to eliminate them here in Downtown Ludington.

ABC KIDZ
CEDAR CHEST CONSIGNMENT
MY SISTERS CLOSET

Did you know that U.S. alone sends about 21 billion pounds of textile waste to landfills every year?  Donations to local thrift shops are more likely to put your used clothing onto their racks than in the trash. Our consignment shops downtown offer clean ways to clean our your closet. Until the fashion industry finds better ways to reuse existing materials, the most sustainable garment you can buy is usually pre-owned. Buying gently used clothing also reduces the demand for new clothes.

Q SMOKEHOUSE

All of the take-out packaging at The Q is eco-friendly… from the utensils (made of corn) to the containers (biodegradable).

LUDINGTON BAY BREWING CO

Bring back in those six-pack holders (or recycle them in your plastics bin) and they will reuse them.

BARLEY & RYE

The take-out containers at B&R are sturdy and reusable, so you not only get a delicious meal… but you get a container that you can use at home.

BOOK MARK
WESCO
RED ROOSTER
HUMANITEA
SPINDRIFT CYCLESPORTS
